About the role

Edinburgh Airport is looking to recruit a Chartered Accountant trainee to join the Finance Team. This will be Edinburgh Airport’s fourth year recruiting as part of a highly successful Training Outside Professional Practice Scheme (‘TOPPS’) scheme.

We’re looking for the successful candidate to start in August/September  2027.

About the recruitment process

The recruitment process for this role will likely be comprised of 3 stages. The first stage for candidates will be an online assessment, designed to test key competencies required for the role. For successful candidates, there will then be two interviews with various members of our Finance team, with a case study, competency and technical questions.

What you’ll be doing
  • There is a vast, diverse range of activities at the Airport, including operational activities, supporting airlines and passengers, police service, fire safety service, transport links, retail units, and car parking.
  • This ensures that the successful candidate would benefit from a unique experience as part of the Edinburgh Airport Finance team, working with our transactional team supporting billing and supplier payments, the financial control team responsible for statutory accounts preparation and cashflow management and taxation, and the business partnering team providing insight on financial performance to the business.
  • Experience offered throughout 3-year training programme as part of a diverse and dynamic team, across various Finance disciplines:
    • Transactional services
    • Statutory accounts preparation
    • Management accounting / business partnering
    • Financial control
    • Taxation – direct and indirect
    • Internal audit
    • Treasury
  • Option to specialise in one discipline in final year
  • High number of Chartered Accountants within Finance team (and out with Finance team) from Practice and Industry backgrounds to offer support with studies and to learn from day to day
  • Potential for secondments to other functions within Edinburgh Airport

What we’re looking for

  • Studying towards an Honours degree, preferably accountancy or business related, with a predicted grade of 2:1 or above.
  • A high performer with a strong academic record
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail
  • Enthusiastic to learn and to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to communicate confidently and clearly with people from all levels and backgrounds
  • Able to work well under pressure
