We want you to be the best person you can be at the airport – and we’ll support, develop, train and guide you no matter where you are in your career. We have an in-house Training Team who are dedicated to creating and delivering high quality training to all of our employees.
We know that the decisions we make today are important for our future – so the training and development of our people on their career journeys is one of the easiest we could make.

What we offer
Security training
Within the airport we offer a wide range of security training courses which cover different areas of the airport security operation. Some of these courses are internal only and will be part of the mandatory training when you start at the airport, others are available on a commercial basis for airport relevant 3rd parties to attend.
Our Security Trainers are accredited by the Civil Aviation Authority and have all been previous security staff members before. They are here to support you in the classroom, on the shop floor and beyond to help assist you in becoming an Aviation Security Officer.
Leadership training
Our people are given the opportunity to develop their skills every step of their career through our Talent Pathway program. Talent Pathway includes 5 courses that we recommend completing in a stepped approach to strengthen your skills across management and leadership as your career progresses. This pathway includes:

First Steps into Management
Management and Development Programme (MDP)
Management and Development Programme Graduate (MDP Graduate)
Authentic Leadership – Delivered by a 3rd Party professional coaching company
Our courses are delivered internally by our Head of Development at Edinburgh Airport (apart from Authentic Leadership) and will provide you with a 1:1 development plan as you progress. Many of our current Leadership Team have completed these courses and have given strong testimonials on how the courses helped them develop.
Airside training
If you are working or driving on the airfield then you will be trained by one of our airside trainers who will pass on their wealth of knowledge of aircraft movement, uncontrolled crossings and many other aspects of working airside.
Our airside trainers deliver courses face-to-face with many practical elements to allow you to enhance your skills on knowledge on the airfield with the support of a trainer before independently carrying out these duties.
Our airside trainers specialise in training courses for our Airside Operations and Airside Support Unit Teams along with offering Driver Training for all relevant departments and 3rd party companies across the Edinburgh Airport campus.
Certifications and Accreditations
Within our training catalogue here at Edinburgh Airport we also offer our people the opportunity to gain Certifications and Accreditations that they will carry with them throughout their professional careers. The courses we offer cover First Aid, First Aid for Mental Health, IOSH Managing Safely, SQA Assessor Awards and SQA Planning and Delivering Training Sessions to Groups.
We offer these courses to our internal colleagues as part of benefits scheme, and we offer our courses to our 3rd party colleagues on a commercial basis.
These courses are delivered by our Head of Development and Commercial Trainer who have years of experience training these qualifications for a wide range of people from different industries across Scotland.
