Diversity and Inclusion
We’re proud to say that 95% of staff say colleagues treat each other with respect at Edinburgh Airport (People Survey, 2022). This is important to us, because we want staff to feel empowered to bring their whole selves to work.
Diversity and inclusion to us means that people are treated with dignity and respect and that we create a safe working environment for all.
We work to ensure we create opportunities to reflect the diverse range of people who work at the airport – encouraging people in our communities to bring their skills, talent and experience to the roles we offer. In our 2022 People Survey, 87% agreed that Edinburgh Airport hires people from diverse backgrounds.
This is an important part of our Greater Good Strategy which sets out our efforts for a sustainable future. You can read more about it here.
2024 also sees the launch of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy, outlining our approach and commitment to putting our people at the heart of everything we do. We want to create an airport where you can be your best self, and in our 2023 People Survey, 92% of our colleagues stated they feel comfortable being themselves at work.
Partnerships that matter
WORK180
Our commitment to being a more inclusive employer has led to a partnership with WORK180.
WORK180 is a firm that:
promotes organisational standards that raise the bar for women in the workplace. We only endorse employers that are committed to making real progress so that all women can expect better
We’re proud to have WORK180 supporting us on our diversity and inclusion journey. They focus on positively impacting women, but their standards are designed with an intersectional lens by their team of experts so the work we do with them will improve the workplace for everyone

Department for Work and Pensions
We have worked in close partnership with Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) since 2010 to reach Job Centres across Edinburgh, the Lothians, Falkirk and Fife to support unemployed people into work.
We host a successful Sector Based Work Academy each month, where job seekers who need a little extra employability training join us for a week, with a guaranteed interview at the end with Edinburgh Airport, Edinburgh Airport Services or one of our on site partners. We also regularly host job fairs on campus in partnership with DWP, so unemployed people from across the region are referred for our roles.
In 2022, more than 240 unemployed people moved into employment at Edinburgh Airport, with 35 of these individuals having completed our Work Academy.
Disability Confident Leader
We achieved our Leader status in 2020, through our work and dedication to supporting employees with disabilities and long-term health conditions, whether these be hidden or visible.
We are passionate about playing our part in decreasing the disability employment gap and ensure our recruitment process is accessible to all by making reasonable adjustments for our candidates. All of our employees complete disability discrimination awareness training as part of the onboarding process, to ensure all colleagues are treated with respect.
Armed Forces Covenant
We are proud to have been recognised with the Silver Award in the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS). This highlights our ongoing support of the defence community and armed forces leavers, reservists and their families. We work closely with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) and support service leavers into roles at the airport, including staff that have started in one role and developed and progressed into more senior roles. We value the skills service leavers bring to our organisation.
If you are currently engaged with CTP, you can find our roles on the RightJob platform and we welcome your application.
Hear from Jason Dunlop, Operational Resilience and Corporate Security Manager, how this partnership has supported him in his roles at Edinburgh Airport:
“During my transition to civvie life from the RAF, I went through the Career Transition Partnership. I attended various events including Career Transition Workshops and recruitment road shows. In early 2015 one of the opportunities that came up was for an Edinburgh Airport Recruitment Presentation. This was the start of my journey working at Edinburgh Airport”.
“Throughout the airport I continually come across ex-service members and that brings that unique bond where you quickly find common ground and ideas which is great. Like the military no day is the same and with the unique buzz that comes with the airport, everyone should have a chance to enjoy it”.
