About the role 

The Airport Operations Coordinator will work as part of a small, highly professional team who are responsible for delivering world class operations through effective use of flow monitoring of our passenger journey end-to-end, whilst ensuring the safety and security of our airport campus.   

The Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) is also responsible for co-ordinating all aspects of our incident and emergency response with 3rd parties, in line with relevant procedures and contingencies.

This role is a 20 hour, fully flexible contract, meaning that you could be rostered to work any day or night shift over a 7 day period.

About the Recruitment Process

The recruitment process for this role will comprise of a two stage interview process. The first stage will be a Teams interview, which will be task based and will simulate the duties of the role. The second stage will be an in person competency based interview, where you will meet some of our Airport Operation Managers and discuss your experience and motivations in applying for the role.

What you’ll be doing

  • You will monitor and coordinate our daily operational response, providing situational awareness to the Airport Operations Manager (AOM) and key stakeholders through proactive review and management of airport CCTV systems.
  • Coordinate airport resources in real-time, working in conjunction with the AOM and key partners. You will identify early deviations to the operational plan through use of technology and communication. 
  • You will maintain a safe and secure airport environment including immediate response to security breaches and alarms, as well as delivering public announcements to the campus to keep staff and passengers informed. 
  • Work with control authorities as well as third parties to proactively reduce any potential criminal or terrorist related activity.  
  • You will have ownership of operational protocols and contingency plans as relevant within airport control, ensuring they remain fit for purpose. 
  • Coordinate and assure excellent use of radio protocol by stakeholders.
  • Provide legal support to case work through the effective use of CCTV systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to this role including GDPR policies

What we’re looking for

To apply for this role, you’ll ideally have experience in airport operations, a strong sense of personal ownership to business challenges and a passion for control centre environments.   

This role requires the successful candidate to obtain a Counter Terrorist Check, so you must have been living in the UK for the last 3 consecutive years
  • Experience in operational control environments
  •  Demonstrate innovation, adaptability, pragmatism and enthusiasm for their work.
  •  Ability to interpret data from various systems to make decisions and initiate responses effectively.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in any situation and work well under pressure. 
  •  Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm and effective in stressful situations.
  •  Ability to manage large amounts of information and prioritise effectively. 
  •  Proven ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all organisational levels.
  •  Strong and effective Customer Service skills, with ability to ease conflict situations.

The following additional items are nice to have but are not essential for the role: 

 
  •  Working knowledge of all Edinburgh Airport campus, regulations and emergency procedures.
  •  Experience in working with emergency services and control authorities.
  •  Experience in a customer service role. 
  •  Significant experience in an aviation setting
