About the role
 
The EASL EBS Duty Manager will oversee the Early Baggage Store (EBS). The responsibility of the EASL EBS Duty Manager is to ensure the operational area is resourced correctly and the best passenger experience is delivered. This role will be accountable for managing the EASL EBS operational team on a day-to-day basis.

About the recruitment process

What you’ll be doing

  • Full accountability for the performance of the EASL EBS Team through close management of the resource (approx. 20-30 staff) on a shift basis.
  • Oversee adherence to operational plans and ensure smooth running of processes. 
  • Conduct daily briefings with Ground Handling Agents, Baggage Controllers and EBS teams. 
  • Review operational forecasts and planning tools. 
  • Prepare daily operational plans and complete risk assessments. 
  • Full working knowledge of the airport operation and its processes to understand and report on performance against KPIs and SLAs.
  • Work closely with airlines/handling agents, airport departments to understand specific requirements, ensure good communication and positive open working relationships to the benefit of the overall service provision.
  • Ensure clear understanding of baggage processes and a close working with EAL Baggage controllers.
  • Development of Early Baggage processes to ensure an efficient and robust operation is maintained.
  • Keep up to date with changes to legislation and other requirements, to ensure Edinburgh Airport remains compliant, and communicate these to the Edinburgh Airport management team and/or Legal Director for review/consideration.
  • Support the EAL Baggage Operations Manager in the development of the EASL team through annual appraisals, trainings requirements, 1-1 performance reviews, sickness and absence management of the team.
  • Dealing with complaints within a timely manner and investigating all breaches of EBS processes.
  • Review operational forecasts and planning tools. 
  • Provide a close working relationship with EAL Business Planning team around rostering to ensure plans are executed to meet operational peaks.
  • This role will focus primarily on baggage operations, but may support wider EASL operational activities as required.

Experience

  • Experience in leading a team in the delivery of an EBS/Batch build baggage operation.
  • Highly competent in use of IT packages including Word, Excel.
  • Experience in a fast‑paced or operational environment.
  • Experience within an airport environment.
  • Knowledge of manual handling or POPs training. 

Desirable 

  • Full UK driving license.
  • Experience in baggage operations.
  • Ability to pass an air-driving medical.
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office, Tableau, SAC).
  • Awareness of 5S methodology.
  • IOSH training.
