the Team
The Engineering team are responsible, for the maintenance of all assets
from simple machinery to our 2556m runway and all infrastructure on and off
Edinburgh Airports extensive campus.

About
the role
As the Engineering (Facilities Maintenance) intern
at Edinburgh Airport, you will receive an overview of all Engineering
processes, systems, asset maintenance scheduling, planning, workforce
management, continuous improvement, and Engineering Logistics parts management.
About the Recruitment Process
The recruitment process for this role will be a one stage, competency based interview with our Senior Engineering Manager – Systems and Scheduling, and our Asset Scheduling and Logistics Manager. You will be asked questions about your experience, technical knowledge and motivation for applying for the role.

What you’ll be doing
- Learning
about the airport, its operations, and the vital role Engineering
(Facilities Maintenance) plays in sustaining smooth and safe operations
across the campus. - Shadowing our maintenance technicians on shift
- Shadowing our skill specific technicians on shift e.g.
Plumber, Electrician etc. - Conducting
and presenting continuous improvement projects to propose solutions to
data availability, collection, collation, and processes.
Example Projects:
§ Creation
of a process for the automated name assignation of assets e.g. Fire Doors and
Shutters, Service Entry Points during the Maintenance Integration process
between the Engineering and Capital Projects Departments
· These
records and processes are currently manual and all historic data is held only
in hard copy, will also require to be validated.
§ Assist
Senior Engineering Manager – Compliance and Contracts with the process of implementing
our new Pavement Management system, which will include utilising ArcGIS survey
metadata to map all surface data within the new system alongside supervised ‘field
work’ out on our ramps and taxiways.
- Internal process improvements and
automations
·
Analysis of communication
methods, content, and rollout of improvements.
A student who is currently enrolled in College or University, who is theoretical and data focused, studying a degree in Engineering.
- Team player: you will work well with others and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Problem solver: you will enjoy finding solutions and presenting them in clear and effective manner.
- Full training will be provided
