EHSQ Coordinator (Capital Projects)

Reporting to the Capital Projects EHSQ Lead, the EHSQ Coordinator will be a key position within the Capital Projects team, as well as providing additional support to the wider EHSQ team across Edinburgh Airport. They will assist with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality assurance to ensure that high standards are met and maintained. This role acts as a central support within Capital Projects, a team of over 50 staff who are helping deliver a significant capital plan of a diverse range of construction projects across the Airport as well as working alongside our extensive supply chain, who are helping deliver these projects.

As the EHSQ Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the team to ensure the compliance and continuous improvement of environmental, health, safety and quality across Capital Projects, as as well as the wider campus.

About the recruitment process
Candidates who pass the shortlisting stage will be invited to a face-to-face interview with the EHSQ Lead and Head of EHSQ. This will involve a presentation and a competency based interview.

What you’ll be doing

  • Collation and interpretation of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (EHSQ) data for monthly meetings including Managing Responsibly Groups and Continuous Improvement Groups. This includes gathering of incident data, breakdown of waste and quality data to produce monthly reports and dashboards within Capital Projects as well as the wider campus.
  • Support the reporting, investigation and analysis of incidents, near misses and non-conformances, ensuring corrective and preventative actions are tracked and implemented.
  • Coordinate, conduct and and oversee internal audit programme (ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001) within the department, including audit scheduling, completion of audits and corrective action tracking.
  • Supporting of regular reviews, updates and reissuing of Capital Projects Standard Operating Procedures
  • Management of document control processes within Capital Projects, ensuring all documents are created, reviewed, approved, stored and maintained in line with requirements.
  • Assisting with collation of data for supplier management, producing reports and dashboards.
  • Work closely with our supply chain to gather relevant construction data and information, as per their key performance indicators.
  • Undertaking regular site visits to assist with completion of EHSQ inspections.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, helping identify opportunities to enhance EHSQ processes and procedures.
  • Undertake monthly Water Sampling, which involves monitoring of surface water discharges at Edinburgh Airport including the Gogar Burn, Almond River and various manholes, with support from a third party.

What we’re looking for
  • A self-starter with strong inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated strong IT proficiency, including the ability to effectively use internal and external business systems and Microsoft.
  • Understanding of ISO Standards (ISO9001 Quality, ISO14001 Environment, ISO45001 OH&S)
  • Currently undertaking a support and coordination role in any of the core aspects of this role
  • Holds or working towards a Health and Safety qualification or
  • Desire and willingness to work towards a Health, Safety and Environmental qualification (such as NEBOSH)
