The Edinburgh Airport Capital Projects team manage the capital investment programme for the wider business. The team is split into 3 disciplines, Development, Project and Commercial Management. A team of 24 people co-ordinate, implement and control all aspects of capital projects, from requirements gathering, optioneering, design, construction and commissioning.
The team are responsible for all aspects of procurement and contract administration. The Capital portfolio is approximately £250m over 5 years and consists of circa 450 different projects.
A sample of our portfolio of projects range from upgrading and maintaining our runway, protecting the environment through controlling our water discharges, expanding our retail offers, developing self-generation energy sources through both solar and ground source heat and improving our security, check-in and baggage systems.

The recruitment process for this role will be a two stage process, with an initial Teams interview, followed by an in person interview where you will prepare a short presentation and answer some competency based questions. Your interview panel will include our Heads of Department, depending on your application and preferred discipline.
- You will be deployed onto 2-3 projects, supporting the wider project team. Dependant on your area of interest this may be concentrated in more than one of the 3 departmental disciplines. The intention will be to give the candidate a wide experience of projects across the entire project life cycle.
- This could involve helping the Development Managers in gathering requirements across the airports many stakeholders, assisting the Project Management team in the deployment and management of contractors on site, to assisting the Commercial Management team with the preparing of tender documents and analysis.
A student who is currently enrolled at College or University, and is studying for a either a project management or quantity surveying qualification, or another relevant subject (e.g. building, architecture or engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical, civil engineering etc)
Candidates who have an interest in developing the following skills will be ideally suited
- Project and commercial management in a construction or IT environment
- Stakeholder and customer management
- Inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate effectively
- Decision making
- Issue resolution
