About the role
This role will support the full Airside Operation and will require an individual with a strong background in data analysis, proven track record in change management and the ability to transform processes and systems into smarter ways of working.
Responsible for the creation, sharing and execution of all Airside Planning activities, accounting for EAL’s own processes, third party business partners, service providers and airlines to ensure delivery of an efficient airside operation 365 days a year. Collaboration both cross functionally and with our external stakeholders will be a key part of the role to ensure a consistent delivery of our budgeted KPI’s.
Key areas include, but not limited to, overnight parking, towing, gate/stand allocation, coaching and project works. The scope of the role includes tracking and measuring that these key areas meet all airside performance metrics whilst executing opportunities to re-design and improve on the current planning processes / methods.

About the Recruitment Process
The successful applicants will be invited to an in person interview, where they will meet with our Head of Business Transformation and EASL, our Airside Operations and Planning Performance Manager and our Recruitment Co-Ordinator.

What you’ll be doing
- Working closely with Business Analytics team in collaboration with airlines, ground handlers and the airside operational teams to deliver robust stand, gate, towing, coaching, and parking plans.
- Ensure that safety is always given the highest priority in meeting operational standards, through robust and careful planning, and engagement with all key parties.
- Working together with the Airside Operations Planning and Performance Manager and key stakeholders to ensure execution of the Airside strategy in delivering a compliant, safe and efficient operation.
- Support the Airside Operations Performance Manager by ensuring that Airside Operations deliver a customer focused and professional service, responding to customers concerns and requirements relating to stand planning queries / issues.
- Support airfield performance and asset utilisation to improve productivity (e.g. peak hour movements, operating cost per movement), in collaboration with optimisation team.
- A full review on the current stand planning processes and provide recommendations to implement more efficient methods such as utilising various programmes such as Python/C/R.
- Ensure that all metrics and reporting of Airside Performance are kept up to date. Support the Airside Operations Planning and Performance Manager by collaboratively using data to identify trends to improve performance, as well as contribute to the site wide KPI dashboards to ensure the airside metrics are accurately represented and reported.
- To provide input, where appropriate, and support the delivery of all capital and revenue projects that are aligned to EAL needs for growth and sustainability.
- Provide active participation in projects which identify and embed solutions within airside operations, providing expertise in the end-to-end process of inputs v outputs, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose and benefits are tracked and measured
- To ensure performance and safety standards are maintained during periods of operational disruption (e.g. adverse weather, industrial action, system failures). To contribute to contingency planning and respond as per the requirements of Edinburgh Airport current policies and procedures.
- To provide and present any planning activities and updates at monthly performance meetings.
What we’re looking for
To apply for this role, you’ll need
- This role requires the successful candidate to obtain a Counter Terrorist Check, so you must have been living in the UK for the last 3 consecutive years
- To be educated to degree level, preferably with Aviation knowledge (Maths, Aerospace engineering, computer science)
- Being able to work with large datasets and interpret data and present to relevant stakeholders, communicating effectively at all levels of the organisation, and with external organisations.
- The ability to build operational models to represent day to day operations and compare it to plans
- Demonstrable knowledge of problem solving and removing waste and variation from process
- The ability to implement and manage change with an operational team
- Operational knowledge of the boundaries and constraints involved in a regulatory environment
- Able to work with minimal supervision and prioritise workload
